Solidarity with Women in Distress (SOLWODI-K) is an NGO based in the Coastal Province of Kenya whose main objective is to empower women in distress with the capabilities to reach their full potential so that they can live productive lives free from violence and exploitation.
SOLWODI was founded by Sister Lea Ackerman under the Catholic Archdiocese of Mombasa in 1985. It was later registered as an NGO in 1997 and continues with the implementation of various activities aimed at empowering women in distress along the Coastal region.

A society where Women and Children are empowered to live healthy and independent lives free from exploitation.

SOLWODI (K) believes that every individual has a right to a better life.Therefore, the organisation is commited to empowering female sex workers, children in sexual exploitation and survivors of human trafficking in order to improve their socio economic, health and legal situations to enable them realise their full potential.
